Safeguarding & Image Consent

We work with people who are vulnerable: children on hospital wards, elderly people who cannot feed themselves, and families under real strain. Their safety and dignity matter more than any photograph, story or donation. This policy sets out how we protect them.

Who this applies to

Everyone acting for Love Give Foundation: trustees, staff, volunteers, partner organisations, and anyone who joins an outreach with us.

Our commitments

• The welfare of the child or vulnerable adult comes first, always.
• We treat everyone we serve with respect, never reducing anyone to their need.
• We follow the rules of the hospitals, homes and schools we visit, and we only attend where we have been invited or given permission.
• Wherever possible, no volunteer is alone and unsupervised with a child or vulnerable adult. Visits happen in the open, in the presence of staff or family.
• Volunteers do not give money, gifts or personal contact details directly to a beneficiary or their family outside of an organised outreach.
• We do not share the personal details, medical information or location of a beneficiary with anyone who does not need it.

Photographs and stories

Photographs are how we show donors what their giving did, but nobody has to be in them.

• We ask permission before photographing or filming anyone, and we explain where the image may appear, including this website and social media.
• For a child, we ask the parent or guardian, and we also respect the child's own wishes. A child who does not want to be photographed is not photographed.
• Where we have permission from a hospital or institution, we still ask the individual or their family as well.
• We do not publish a child's full name, school, home address or ward alongside their photograph, and we do not publish medical details that identify someone.
• We do not use images that show someone in distress, undressed, or in any way that takes away their dignity, even where they would make a stronger appeal.
• Saying no changes nothing about the help someone receives from us.

Withdrawing consent

Anyone can change their mind at any time. If you, or a child in your care, appear in a photograph or story you no longer want published, email hello@lovegivefoundation.org and we will remove it from our website and our own social media as quickly as we can, without asking you to justify the request.

Raising a concern

If you are worried about the safety or treatment of anyone connected with our work, including something done by one of our own volunteers, tell us. Email hello@lovegivefoundation.org or call +234 806 481 6696.

• We take every concern seriously and treat it confidentially.
• We aim to respond within 3 working days.
• Where a child or adult is at risk of harm, we report it to the appropriate authorities, including the police or the relevant child protection agency, and we cooperate fully with them.
• A volunteer who breaches this policy is withdrawn from our outreaches while the matter is looked into.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services first, then tell us.

Review

We review this policy at least once a year, and whenever our work changes in a way that affects the people we serve. The latest version is always on this page with its update date.
